The route follows the Punkaharju ridge, and Olavinlinna castle rises straight out of Lake Saimaa. In summer, the opera festival colours the town.

The national landscape of Lake Pielinen is worth seeing at sunrise. It's a short walk up to Ukko-Koli from the campsite.

At the start of the Bear's Trail there's room for the motorhome, and day trips to Kiutaköngäs waterfall are unforgettable.
